RomaVia is a bus tracking service for Rome that I built and run by myself. This privacy policy explains exactly what data is collected when you use the site and what I do with it.
When you visit RomaVia, a random anonymous ID is created to help me understand how the site is used. This ID isn't connected to you personally — it's just a random number that lets me track things like which features people use (searching for stops, adding favorites, viewing nearby stops, etc.). This helps me figure out what's working well and what needs improvement.
Your browser stores some data locally (using IndexedDB and localStorage) to keep the site working properly. This includes things like your favorite bus stops, theme preferences (dark/light mode), and language settings. This data stays on your device and isn't sent to me.
If you submit feedback through the feedback form, I collect whatever you write in the message. You can optionally include your email address if you want me to follow up with you about your feedback. Sometimes the form might also include error logs or technical details to help me understand what went wrong, but these don't contain personal information unless you include it in your message.
I don't automatically collect your IP address, location, name, email, or any other personal information. You don't need to create an account or sign up for anything.
I use the data to:
The site uses cookies and local storage to remember your preferences (like dark mode and language settings) and to store your favorites. These are essential for the site to work properly. You can clear them through your browser settings, but you'll lose your saved preferences and favorites.
I don't share your data with anyone. I'm the only person who runs this site and has access to the anonymous usage data. The only exception is if you choose to include your email in feedback — that's only used so I can get back to you about your specific feedback.
The anonymous usage data is stored securely, and only I have access to it. However, no online service is 100% secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.
RomaVia doesn't use tracking services or analytics from other companies. The site is hosted and served through standard web hosting infrastructure, but I don't use services that collect additional data about you.
You can:
If you have questions about this privacy policy or how your data is handled, you can email me at [email protected].
If I change how data is collected or used, I'll update this policy and note the new date at the top.
